A chapter in light and place.

Piers create a simple but powerful movement through a coastal landscape. They begin on solid ground and lead toward open water, turning architecture into a path.

What stayed with me was the invitation of that line—the sense of moving outward while the horizon remained beyond reach.

The pier became the central structural device, guiding the eye through the painting while dividing reflected water and sky.

Its geometry was softened by atmosphere and broken marks so it remained part of the landscape rather than separate from it.

Coastal pier and open water

Experience before interpretation.

The photograph records a place. The painting preserves what remained after distance, time and memory had altered it.

Living with the work.

Pier is a clear, elegant coastal composition with a strong sense of depth, direction and quiet symbolism.
