Travel has always shaped the way I see.
Whether riding through the American West, standing inside Antelope Canyon or looking across the Amalfi Coast, I am drawn to the moment when changing light transforms a familiar landscape into something unforgettable.
Back in the studio, photographs and memories become a starting point rather than a blueprint. I simplify, exaggerate and reinterpret until the painting carries the atmosphere of the experience rather than merely recording its appearance.

THE JOURNEY
On the road, in the moment, on canvas.
Many paintings begin during motorcycle journeys across America and travels throughout Europe. The road slows the experience down. It allows me to notice the changing colour of stone, the movement of weather and the way light alters the emotional character of a place.
I do not travel simply to find subjects. I travel to experience places deeply enough that they continue to live in memory.

Surface and illusion in conversation.
I work in oil with palette knife and brush. Transparent layers establish atmosphere and depth, while thicker gestural passages give the landscape physical presence.
The painting shifts between flat surface and the illusion of distance, allowing abstraction and representation to remain in conversation.
