A chapter in light and place.

Coastlines are places of transition. Land, water and sky meet without ever becoming fixed, and the entire scene can change with a passing cloud or a shift in the tide.

What stayed with me was the sense of luminous distance—the way the horizon seemed both completely clear and impossible to reach.

I wanted the painting to retain that openness. Broad passages of colour establish the sea and sky, while broken marks along the shore create movement without closing the composition.

Cool transparent layers are balanced by warmer notes so that the painting feels illuminated from within rather than simply lit from above.

Coastal journey

Experience before interpretation.

The journey photograph is a record of place. The finished painting is an interpretation shaped by time, memory and the physical language of paint.

Living with the work.

Crystal Coast is a restrained coastal work whose openness and luminous palette make it especially suited to a calm, contemporary interior.

The original should be supplied signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Framing, delivery and collection details can be discussed directly with the studio.
