Golden Basin explores a landscape at the point when evening light begins to gather across the ground and distant forms. Warmth moves through the composition without becoming a literal record of a single moment.
IN THE STUDIO
Color was developed in layers so the warmer passages could seem to emerge through cooler and darker areas, preserving a sense of light held within the painting.
THE SURFACE

At distance, the marks resolve into landscape. Up close, the work returns to paint—edges, transparent passages, knife marks and areas where the surface remains deliberately active.
