Rushing Falls is centered on movement—the repeated pull of water over rock and the changing reflections within it. The scene is interpreted through rhythm and surface rather than frozen detail.
IN THE STUDIO
Brush and palette knife marks follow the direction of the water, creating a surface that remains active even when viewed close up.
THE SURFACE
Paint seen at close range.
At distance, the marks resolve into landscape. Up close, the work returns to paint—edges, transparent passages, knife marks and areas where the surface remains deliberately active.
