THE JOURNEY
There are moments during a journey when an ordinary landscape quietly becomes extraordinary. A break in the cloud allowed sunlight to sweep across the hills, revealing a narrow path illuminated against the darker land beyond.
Nothing dramatic happened. Instead, the scene unfolded with remarkable gentleness, transforming an everyday view into something quietly symbolic. Every path represents both where we have been and where we choose to go next.
IN THE STUDIO
The original scene provided structure, but the painting evolved through memory rather than direct observation. Transparent glazes established atmosphere before heavier palette-knife passages introduced rhythm and texture.
The illuminated path became the visual anchor around which the composition developed, drawing the eye through the landscape while allowing the surrounding colour to breathe.
WHERE IT BEGAN
The journey photograph is a record of place. The finished painting is an interpretation shaped by time, memory and the physical language of paint.
