IN THE STUDIO
The composition was organized through horizontal movement and a restrained range of colour.
Thin atmospheric layers created distance, while more physical marks in the foreground prevented the scene from becoming entirely ethereal.

The photograph records a place. The painting preserves what remained after distance, time and memory had altered it.
