THE JOURNEY
Winter simplifies the landscape. Familiar details disappear beneath snow, sound becomes muted and the smallest traces—a path, a branch, a distant ridge—gain unexpected importance.
This scene stayed with me because it felt both inviting and solitary. The path offered a way forward while the surrounding quiet encouraged stillness.
IN THE STUDIO
Rather than relying on pure white, the snow was developed through subtle shifts of blue, grey, violet and warmer reflected colour.
The path was allowed to emerge gradually, becoming the quiet structural line that leads the viewer through the painting.
WHERE IT BEGAN
The journey photograph is a record of place. The finished painting is an interpretation shaped by time, memory and the physical language of paint.

Winter’s Walk combines intimacy and distance, making it a contemplative work within the Mountains & Wilderness collection.
