THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
A chapter in light and place.
THE JOURNEY
The most dramatic mountain light often arrives briefly, when a distant peak catches warmth while the surrounding land has already begun to darken.
Crimson Peak was born from that contrast: a solid, enduring form transformed by colour that could not last.
IN THE STUDIO
The mountain was built with substantial knife marks to preserve its physical weight, then softened with transparent warm layers.
Cooler surrounding passages intensified the crimson light without allowing the colour to become isolated from the landscape.
