THE JOURNEY
Florida offers a quieter kind of grandeur. The horizon is low, water carries the sky and evening light can transform wetlands and coastal edges with extraordinary speed.
Because these landscapes are close to home, they are observed repeatedly rather than encountered once. That familiarity allows subtler changes in colour and atmosphere to become the subject.
IN THE STUDIO
The painting was developed through broad, calm passages before smaller marks introduced the movement of vegetation and reflected light.
Warm and cool colour are held in balance so that the work retains the humid, luminous quality of a Florida evening.
WHERE IT BEGAN
The journey photograph is a record of place. The finished painting is an interpretation shaped by time, memory and the physical language of paint.
