THE JOURNEY
Layered mountain ridges seem to dissolve into atmosphere, each successive form becoming quieter and less certain.
Blue Ridge was inspired by that gradual disappearance, where distance is not empty space but a presence made visible through colour.
IN THE STUDIO
The painting relied on subtle shifts in value and temperature rather than detail. Each ridge was softened so that space accumulated gradually.
A restrained palette preserved the calm rhythm of the landscape and allowed the atmospheric depth to remain central.
WHERE IT BEGAN
The photograph records a place. The painting preserves what remained after distance, time and memory had altered it.

Blue Ridge is a meditative mountain painting defined by distance, tonal restraint and a quiet sense of scale.
