THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
THE JOURNEY
After sunset, the coast loses many of its familiar distinctions. Sea and sky begin to merge, while small areas of reflected light gain unusual importance.
Coastal Nights grew from that ambiguity—the sense of standing before a vast space that is visible only in fragments.
IN THE STUDIO
Deep transparent blues established the nocturnal atmosphere, while lighter passages were introduced sparingly to suggest reflection and distance.
The surface was allowed to remain open and understated so the painting retained its sense of mystery.
WHERE IT BEGAN
The photograph records a place. The painting preserves what remained after distance, time and memory had altered it.
COLLECTOR'S NOTE
Coastal Nights is a refined nocturne that combines coastal space with the restrained mood of the night series.
The original should be supplied signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Framing and delivery can be discussed directly with the studio.
